Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help the Accessible Homes Foundation (AHF) help people with disabilities find homes to meet their needs. If you have any of the following skills and are interested in being on the AHF Board of Directors or just helping out, send us an email

  • Board of Directors positions available. Prefer 3 year commitment. Must be able to attend most Board meetings, to be held the first Thursday of each month, Noon to 2pm, and volunteer at least 4 to 10 hours a month in addition to Board meetings. Need people with experience in either non-profit or for-profit corporations. At least half of Board members must be personally familiar with the housing needs of people with disabilities. Need people with fund raising, secretarial, computer, legal, and leadership experience, and others. Will consider people who are devoted to cause, without corporate experience, who have personal experience of the housing needs of people with disabilities.
  • Secretary to assist in writing letters, making fliers, posters, compiling email lists, and various other tasks. One year commitment of at least 4 hours/month.
  • Assistant Webmaster to help put items on AHF website on an ongoing basis. Prefer at least one year commitment, of at least one hour/week or 4 hours/month. Needed skills are: HTML/XHTML, PHP5, CSS, Javascript (including jQuery framework), and familiarity with Web Accessibility Standards. Knowledge of all the above are desired but not required. If you have a basic understanding of web design, the details can be taught.
  • Commercial Realtor to find donated office space for a non-profit corporation. Need at least 150 square feet that is wheelchair accessible. This is an immediate one-time need, not an ongoing volunteer position.
  • Person to make outgoing phone calls to builders, Realtors, apartment complexes, etc. to find out if they have homes for sale or rent that meet the accessible standards of the Accessible Homes Foundation, and want to put their property on AHF web site for FREE. Prefer one year commitment of at least one hour/week or 4 hours/month.
  • Person to make phone calls to businesses to encourage them to become a Sponsor of the Accessible Homes Foundation. Prefer one year commitment of one hour/week or 4 hours/month.
  • Grant Writer (temporary) to write a Technical Assistance Grant to get a long term grant writer. Will need to submit grants and monitor grant until permanent grant writer takes over.
